Neck Pain

To understand how to treat neck (cervical) pain, it helps to understand a bit of the anatomy and parts of the neck and their actions. Dr. Sanderson and his team emphasize taking the necessary time to create an understanding of the underlying anatomy of each patient’s injury or ailment. This philosophy focuses on empowering patients to take control of their pain.

The neck consists of 7 vertebrae arranged in a C-shaped curve, along with 8 pairs of spinal nerves, numerous ligaments, and about 20 muscles – all working together to support your head, which weighs around 10 pounds and contains your brain. When we spend long periods looking down at phones, computers, or books, we flatten this natural curve, which puts extra strain on the middle of the neck, leading to structural changes and increased risk of injury.
